Puglia's Vines, an Authentic Identity
In Puglia, the total production of the Polvanera Winery extends over approximately 100 hectares of Primitivo, Aleatico, Aglianico, Minutolo, Moscato, Falangina, Marchione and Bianco d’Alessano grapes.
Our labels differ from one another based on the age of the vineyards and the type of soil on which they are located. The altitudes, however, vary from 300 to 450 meters; at these altitudes, we benefit from significant temperature variations, which favor the expression of particularly fine and elegant aromas in Puglia’s wines.
The training systems are bush-trained (for the sixty-year-old vines) and spurred cordon, all organically grown. Our Apulian wines remain faithful to the authentic flavors of the grape variety; the grapes from the old bush-trained vines are vinified using modern techniques that maintain absolute oenological simplicity.
The maturation and aging process takes place in stainless steel tanks and in the bottle. No barrel aging is done to avoid overshadowing the Primitivo’s native aromas with woody notes and to prevent oxidative development. This blend of innovation and tradition has created a wine strongly rooted in its terroir, with characteristic notes of elegance, drinkability, and extraordinary freshness and minerality.
